Bolt, a leading ride-hailing platform, has launched its first global Passenger Safety Meet & Greet in Lagos, Nigeria. Opening a direct safety dialogue with passengers to boost trust in the country’s expanding mobility sector.
The landmark event united passengers, drivers, regulators, Bolt Business clients, media, lifestyle influencers, and company representatives for an open, solutions-focused forum. Attendees discussed pressing safety concerns, shared real-life ride experiences, and offered practical suggestions for improvement.
Key issues raised included data privacy, rider verification processes, fare disputes, and even comfort concerns such as air-conditioning use in the Economy category. Some passengers voiced specific concerns about drivers taking screenshots of personal data. Urging Bolt to implement stronger security measures similar to banking standards.
Director of Public Transport Commuter Services, Engr. Adebayo Olusoji. Delivered a keynote stressing collaboration among operators, regulators, and passengers. He highlighted the importance of continuous education, policy enforcement, and community engagement to improve urban mobility safety.
Bolt used the platform to showcase its in-app safety features, including trip sharing, audio trip recording, rider and driver verification. Also an emergency assist button, in-trip insurance, and 24/7 customer support. The company encouraged both passengers and drivers to actively use these tools for safer trips.
According to Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Bolt’s Head of Regulatory and Policy, the initiative is about co-creating safety solutions with the people who use the service daily. “By listening and acting together, we can build a more respectful and secure ride-hailing experience,” she noted.
An engaging role-play session brought common challenges to life, from payment disputes to service expectations, fostering empathy and communication between riders and drivers.
This event marks the beginning of Bolt’s nationwide engagement strategy to create a people-first, inclusive, and responsive ride-hailing ecosystem across Nigeria.
