The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched its 2025 National Food Intervention Project, valued at N16 billion, to support one million vulnerable Nigerians facing economic hardship.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony in Kano, Chairman Aliko Dangote, represented by his daughter Marya, emphasized the foundation’s dedication to combating hunger, poverty, and economic challenges through large-scale food relief.
As part of the initiative, one million 10kg bags of rice will be distributed across all 774 local government areas in collaboration with state governments.
This effort aligns with the foundation’s core mission of providing essential support to low-income communities while complementing government efforts to tackle food insecurity.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo, commended the intervention, highlighting its importance, particularly during Ramadan. The state has set up a dedicated committee, including security agencies, to ensure fair and transparent distribution.
The Managing Director of ADF, Zouera Youssoufou, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to social impact initiatives, including poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education. Additionally, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board in Kano, Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, praised the foundation’s efforts and urged other private sector leaders to follow Dangote’s example in supporting the needy.
Dangote also called on industrialists and businesses to collaborate on addressing food insecurity through public-private partnerships, emphasizing the collective responsibility to support society’s most vulnerable.
