Marseille spoiled Paris Saint-Germain’s celebrations with a 1-0 win in Monday’s delayed Le Classique. Nayef Aguerd scored early, heading in after goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier misjudged Mason Greenwood’s cross. This was Marseille’s first home league win against PSG since 2011.
The match was postponed from Sunday due to heavy rain and storms. Despite PSG pressing hard, goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli made several key saves. Achraf Hakimi’s shot was one of them. PSG striker Gonçalo Ramos missed a golden chance to equalize in the second half. This loss marked PSG’s first league defeat this season.
Ousmane Dembélé, sidelined with a thigh injury, attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris. He received the 2025 men’s award. PSG also won the men’s club of the year award. However, Marseille’s win took the spotlight away from PSG’s celebrations.
Marseille rose to sixth in Ligue 1 with nine points. Four teams share the top spot with 12 points each. Monaco leads on goals scored, followed by Lyon, Strasbourg, and PSG. Lille sits fifth with 10 points after five games.
In Italy, Napoli maintained their perfect Serie A start with a 3-2 home win over Pisa. Billy Gilmour opened the scoring just before halftime with his first senior club goal. Pisa equalized through a penalty by M’Bala Nzola. Leonardo Spinazzola restored Napoli’s lead with a powerful strike. Scott McTominay assisted Lorenzo Lucca for Napoli’s third goal.
Pisa scored late through Lorran, but Napoli held on to keep their 100% record. Antonio Conte’s side leads the table with 12 points. Juventus is two points behind after a 1-1 draw at Hellas Verona. Pisa remains second-bottom with just one point.
