Nigerian actor Olumide Oworu believes the future of Nollywood lies in unity and international collaboration.
Appearing on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, the 30-year-old star of The Johnsons expressed optimism about the Nigerian film industry’s potential but noted that progress has been slow.
“There’s much potential in Nollywood, but the growth feels fragmented. Too many efforts are happening in small pockets instead of the industry scaling up together,” Oworu said.
Despite his concerns, he remains hopeful. “I’m not worried. I’m excited to see where it goes. International collaborations will help push us forward,” he added.
Beyond acting, Oworu revealed he’s currently working on his debut EP as he explores his musical side. He also shared that he and his peers are engaging more in politically conscious conversations, signaling a shift among young creatives in the industry.
