Playing in the global HR field and liaising with talents across the world, has allowed me see firsthand how shifts in the workplace mirror the evolution of humanity itself. From the Great Resignation, where millions left uninspiring roles for purpose-driven careers, to the Great Layoff, where industries were forced to recalibrate for survival, we now stand on the cusp of what I call The Great Recalibration.
What is it? It’s the moment where humans and AI exist intuitively— amplifying creativity, cognitive automation and synthesizing information in split seconds. Creating a plane where a culmination of skills, strategy, and adaptability becomes an inevitable currency.
According to the Future of Jobs Report:
- 23% of jobs globally are about to transform by 2027.
- 83 million roles will disappear, but here’s the twist—69 million new ones will emerge.
- And here’s the exciting part: 44% of workforce skills will need upskilling to keep their job.
But this isn’t only a doom-and-gloom narrative. No, ultimately it’s an indisputable growth opportunity.

We must see AI as a Catalyst, Not a Threat: Generative AI is sometimes seen as the villain of so many workforce stories, mostly from the standpoint of the job seeker. But here’s the truth: 75% of companies surveyed say adopting new tech will create more jobs, not less. Ultimately they will be an avalanche of new skill sets. Jobs like AI ethicists, AI Prompt writers and algorithm trainers will become a norm.
