In a significant breakthrough, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, handed over 59 rescued kidnapping victims to the Kaduna State Government on Tuesday.
The victims, comprising 24 male adults, 28 female adults, and six children, were rescued from different locations across Kaduna State. One victim is currently receiving medical care at a hospital.
Ribadu emphasised that “The rescue operation was part of a coordinated effort by all security agencies, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to restore peace, security, and normalcy in the country”.
The NSA reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling banditry and insecurity, stressing that collaborative efforts would continue until peace is fully restored.
Maj.-Gen. Gold Chibuisi, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, pledged the military’s unwavering support in combating insecurity. He confirmed that security agencies, under the NSA’s coordination, are committed to achieving the President’s security objectives.
Similarly, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) disclosed “That some victims had been held captive for over four months. He highlighted that rescue efforts focused on the notorious Rijana area along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Representing Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Chief of Staff Sani Kila praised President Tinubu’s commitment to security and the strong collaboration between the federal and state governments.
The recent rescue underscores Nigeria’s intensified efforts to combat kidnapping and restore stability in affected regions. Ribadu reassured Nigerians that security forces would continue to push forward until peace and order were fully restored.
