The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that a total of 1,911,141 Nigerians applied for its 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise before the application portal officially closed on Monday, August 11, 2025.
The large-scale recruitment drive, which covered the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Correctional Service, experienced several delays and technical challenges during its application period.
Technical Glitches and Postponements
Initially scheduled to open on June 26, 2025, the recruitment portal faced repeated crashes and downtime, forcing the CDCFIB to postpone the start date — first to July 14, then again to July 21.
The application deadline, which was originally August 4, was extended by one week to August 11 to accommodate affected applicants.
States with the Highest and Lowest Applications
According to official CDCFIB data, Kogi State topped the list with 116,162 applications, followed closely by Kaduna (114,536) and Benue (110,565). Other top contributors included Kano and Niger, bringing the total from the five highest states to 510,174 applicants.
At the lower end, Bayelsa recorded the fewest applications at 11,669, followed by Lagos (14,216), Rivers (22,210), Ebonyi (23,601), and Delta (27,962). Combined, these five states accounted for 99,658 applicants.
