Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed Nigeria’s strong economic growth trajectory, driven by President Bola Tinubu’s bold leadership and strategic policies. Speaking at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Shettima welcomed investments across key sectors ahead of the upcoming Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue.
He urged ministers and agency heads to actively engage and prepare for high-level discussions with Brazil, emphasizing the need for strategic coherence and a clear vision for Nigeria’s development. Shettima highlighted Brazil as a key partner, citing similarities between both nations and the opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, trade, defense, tourism, and healthcare.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, emphasized the dialogue as a chance to revamp Nigeria’s agricultural sector and achieve food sovereignty. Similarly, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, stressed the cultural significance of Nigeria’s ties with Brazil, including plans to expand collaborations in the creative industry and rebuild the Nigerian House in Brazil.
In defense, Minister Muhammad Badaru announced an upcoming agreement with Brazil to strengthen military cooperation, including local defense production. Meanwhile, Health Minister Ali Pate noted the potential for Nigeria to tap into Brazil’s advanced pharmaceutical industry to boost local vaccine and drug manufacturing.
Shettima urged ministers to take ownership of the discussions, ensuring Nigeria maximizes investment and development opportunities from the partnership. The dialogue, set for later this year, is expected to pave the way for economic growth, job creation, and deeper bilateral ties between the two nations.
