President Bola Tinubu aims to complete and expand critical road infrastructure projects nationwide to improve connectivity and boost economic growth. Represented by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Tinubu made this statement during the inauguration of Section Two of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway project on Sunday.
Enhancing National Connectivity with Key Road Projects
The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway connects the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to 12 states across northern Nigeria. Tinubu highlighted the government’s focus on easing travel, boosting trade, and supporting regional development.
“My vision is to overhaul Nigeria’s roadways by completing and expanding key infrastructure projects nationwide,” Tinubu said. He acknowledged that previous administrations started some of these projects but praised his government for refining partnerships, resolving funding issues, and setting new completion timelines.
Infrastructure Growth Under Tinubu’s Leadership
In less than two years, Tinubu’s administration has awarded several new road projects, many of which have already been completed. These efforts are set to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and regional integration, ensuring that no part of the country is left behind in infrastructure development.
Kaduna State and northern Nigeria, in particular, have benefited from significant infrastructure improvements. The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway is one of the most important projects, promoting economic and social growth across key regions.
Key Upgrades to the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway
Tinubu approved an 11-kilometre extension to connect the road to Aminu Kano International Airport and added 10 kilometres to Section One, extending coverage between Kogi State and Abuja. He also instructed the installation of solar-powered lights along the road to enhance safety and visibility.
Investment and Support for Ongoing Projects
Minister of Works, David Umahi, commended Tinubu’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s roads. The 700-kilometre Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway will use concrete-reinforced pavement and should be completed in 14 months.
Umahi shared updates on the project, revealing that Julius Berger had completed 480 kilometres in the Kano section, with 280 kilometres remaining. The government allocated N252 billion for Sections One and Three, while Section Two is budgeted at N525 billion. Infiouest is executing the nearly trillion-naira project.
A Nationwide Commitment to Socio-Economic Development
Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, reiterated Tinubu’s dedication to Nigeria’s growth. Goronyo praised the president’s efforts to address every region’s needs and cited key projects in Illela (Sokoto), Lagos, and Badagry as part of the administration’s legacy.
“This is a performing President, bringing renewed hope and positive change to Nigerian lives,” Goronyo said. He urged Nigerians to support the ongoing projects and Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous, transformed nation.
Conclusion
Under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is witnessing a major transformation in road infrastructure. The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway and other projects show the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and driving economic growth across the country.
