Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has stirred debate after expressing discomfort with LGBTQ+ themes in Disney’s animated movie Lightyear.
Speaking on the It’s Giving Podcast hosted by Sarah Fontenot, Snoop recalled taking his grandson to see the film, only to be surprised by a scene showing two women raising a child together.
“Papa Snoop, how can she have a baby with another woman?” his grandson asked, leaving the rapper struggling to explain.
Snoop admitted he didn’t expect such themes in a children’s movie.
“I didn’t come here for this; I just came to watch the movie. I’m worried about taking kids to the movies now, because they’re putting me in situations I don’t know how to explain,” he said.
Mixed Reactions Online
Snoop’s comments have reignited conversations around LGBTQ+ representation in children’s media. While some applaud Disney for promoting inclusivity, others share Snoop’s concerns about how such topics are introduced to young audiences.
The rapper’s remarks highlight the parenting challenges of explaining complex social issues to children in entertainment settings.
