Rap legend Snoop Dogg is now a co-owner of Swansea City. The Welsh Championship club announced the news on Thursday. The 53-year-old American star joins Croatian football icon Luka Modrić in the club’s ownership group.
Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, appeared on Swansea’s social media last week. He modeled their 2025–26 season home jersey, hinting at his new role. His investment follows American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen’s takeover in November 2024.
Swansea hopes Snoop Dogg’s 100 million+ followers will raise the club’s global profile. The team aims to return to the Premier League, where they last played in 2018.
The club’s owners want to boost revenue. More income means more spending on players while staying within British football’s profit and sustainability rules.
“My love of football is well known,” Snoop Dogg said via the club’s website. “Swansea’s story struck a chord with me. A proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
In April, Swansea announced Luka Modrić had acquired a club stake. Modrić, now with AC Milan, joined after leaving Real Madrid.
“To borrow from Snoop’s back catalogue, this is the next episode for Swansea City,” the owners said. “Snoop’s global fanbase will help us grow. He’s shown real excitement about joining the club.”
Swansea looks to follow rivals Wrexham’s path. Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham in 2020, the club has risen to the Championship.
