In a decisive move to restore peace and strengthen national unity. President Tinubu has rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna State. Instead, he will be traveling to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to address the persistent communal clashes plaguing the region.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. He disclosed that President Tinubu’s primary goal is to witness the situation firsthand. And also provide practical solutions to the recurring violence that has claimed countless lives and devastated communities across Benue.
Originally, the President had been set to commission several state projects in Kaduna on June 18. However, that visit will now take place a day later, on Thursday, June 19. The shift in schedule reflects the urgency of the crisis in Benue and the government’s determination to find lasting peace.
During his visit, President Tinubu is expected to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Including traditional rulers, religious leaders, political figures, community heads, and youth representatives. These interactions will take place during a town hall meeting, where ideas and strategies for sustainable peace will be discussed.
To pave the way for this important visit, the President has already dispatched top officials to Benue State. Among them are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the Senate and House Committee Chairmen on Defence.
President Tinubu has consistently condemned the violence in Benue and has urged all Nigerians to foster peace, unity, and understanding. He has also expressed deep condolences to families affected by the crisis. Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring stability in the region.
