The Oba Saheed Elegushi Foundation, a leading Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has launched a major initiative to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and students in the Eti-Osa area of Lagos State. To drive economic growth and boost education, the foundation will disburse N200 million, reinforcing its commitment to community development.
Temitope Oyefeso, Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the traditional ruler of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Elegushi, announced this initiative in an official statement.
The initiative coincides with the 15th anniversary of Oba Saheed Elegushi’s reign, marking his continued impact on the community. Over the years, his leadership has driven significant growth, creating opportunities for both businesses and students.
Oba Saheed Elegushi expressed his commitment to sustainable development and giving back to society.
“As I celebrate 15 years on the throne, I remain dedicated to uplifting the community that has supported me. This initiative reflects my belief in the potential of our youth and entrepreneurs. Together, we can create a brighter future,” the monarch stated.
The N200 million fund will be distributed through targeted programs to benefit entrepreneurs and students. This initiative offers financial aid, resources, and mentorship to drive innovation, business growth, and academic excellence. By supporting SMEs and students, the foundation aims to create economic opportunities and bridge educational gaps in Eti-Osa.
“This initiative not only marks a milestone in the traditional ruler’s reign but also strengthens the foundation’s mission to drive positive change,” Oyefeso emphasized.
The celebrations, set for April 18 to April 27, will feature several events, including:
- Public presentation of a book on the history of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom.
- Conferment of honorary titles on distinguished Nigerians.
- A cultural festival highlighting the rich heritage of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom.
- An anniversary banquet honoring the monarch’s impactful reign.
