The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has announced the deployment of over 3,100 officers across Eid praying grounds, recreational centres, and marketplaces to strengthen security during the upcoming Sallah (Eid-el-Kabir) celebrations.
In a statement released on Thursday, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed that the deployment is part of comprehensive security measures spearheaded by the state commandant, Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini.
“The NSCDC Kano Command, under the leadership of Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini, has finalized all necessary security arrangements for effective coverage of Eid prayer venues, public recreational spaces, and markets throughout the Sallah festivities,” Abdullahi stated.
The personnel, drawn from various departments, area commands, and divisional offices, have been tasked with ensuring a secure and peaceful environment before, during, and after the Eid celebrations.
As the agency primarily responsible for the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, the NSCDC emphasized its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and public facilities during the holiday period.
“Special security attention is being directed at protecting public utilities, with a strong focus on preventing crime and maintaining order across the state,” Abdullahi added.
The Corps also issued a strong warning to mischief-makers and criminal elements, urging them to steer clear of any unlawful activities during the festive period. The NSCDC affirmed its readiness to take decisive legal action against any individuals or groups found engaging in criminal behavior.
