The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring food security at the launch of the 2025 dry season farming and Ramadan palliative distribution in Kebbi. He highlighted ongoing efforts to empower farmers and boost agricultural productivity.
Kyari praised Tinubu’s initiatives to support farmers, enhance yields, and reduce food prices. He commended Governor Nasir Idris for prioritizing agriculture and emphasized the importance of dry-season farming in achieving food security. The minister also highlighted the distribution of essential farming equipment, including water pumps, sprayers, and fertilizers, to boost productivity.
Governor Idris acknowledged the challenges of dry season farming and reiterated his commitment to providing necessary inputs. He highlighted the KADAGE program, aimed at revolutionizing agriculture, improving food sufficiency, and supporting farmers affected by flooding.
Idris announced that Ramadan palliatives were allocated across society, including civil servants, teachers, and security personnel. He warned government officials against interfering in the distribution process and assured transparency.
State officials stressed the importance of using distributed resources effectively. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, warned against selling government-provided inputs, while Agriculture Commissioner Alhaji Shehu Ma’azu reaffirmed Kebbi’s role as an agricultural hub.
With continuous investment and policy-driven initiatives, Nigeria is making steady progress toward food security. Prioritizing agricultural support and fair resource distribution will drive economic growth and sustainable farming nationwide.
