Minna, Niger State, Newgate University Minna (NUM) has received full accreditation for its undergraduate programs from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The evaluation took place in October and November 2024, with official accreditation granted in early 2025.
Mrs. Usman Yamman, Director of Academic Planning at NUM, confirmed that programs like Software Engineering, Mass Communication, Accounting, Nursing Science, and Public Health scored above 90%.
NUC also approved two new programs: Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). These programs address growing demand in health sciences and law.
The university’s programs scored an average of 86.9%, based on academic standards, infrastructure, and teaching quality.
“The NUC’s assessment confirms that our programs meet national standards,” said Mrs. Yamman. The review included audits of facilities, staff qualifications, and curriculum.
NUM has also gained approval from professional bodies like the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Registration Board (MRTB), and the Council for Legal Education (CLE).
These accreditations are expected to improve student enrollment and public trust.
“Our goal is to equip graduates with skills to succeed locally and globally,” Mrs. Yamman added.
Admissions for the 2025/2026 session are open for courses including Nursing Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, DPT, Software Engineering, ICT, Cybersecurity, LL.B, International Relations, Accounting, Mass Communication, and Business Administration.
