The 2024 National Sports Festival received a vibrant boost. As the Ogun State Government officially unveiled the event’s mascot, logo, and theme song. The unveiling ceremony was held at the June 12 Cultural Centre. It was a colorful display of culture, innovation, and unity.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized Ogun State’s readiness to host a world-class festival from May 16 to 30, 2025. He assured Nigerians of an unforgettable experience, pledging the most inclusive and inspiring sports event the nation has ever seen.
The theme song, composed by Dr. Bayo Adepetun, and the mascot, designed by a creative team from the Ministry of Culture, were proudly presented. Both pieces reflect the state’s rich heritage, youthful energy, and forward-looking spirit.
Significant investments have already been made in the upgrading and construction of sports facilities across the state. According to Abiodun, these developments will not only support the current festival. It will also serve as a lasting legacy for future sporting events in Nigeria.
In addition to infrastructure, preparations for athlete development are well underway. Coaches, technical staff, and athletes have been commended for their commitment, with the governor expressing confidence in their performance.
Sports, Abiodun noted, represent more than competition — they serve as tools for unity, empowerment, and youth development. He urged parents to support their children’s participation while calling on all stakeholders, including residents, media, and private sector partners, to contribute to a successful festival.
The governor encouraged all Nigerians to mark their calendars and join in what promises to be a historic celebration of talent and national pride. With the support of the Local Organising Committee and key partners, Ogun State is set to deliver a premium sports experience.
