The Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) is urging business leaders to prioritize fitness and work-life balance as essential strategies for enhancing employee productivity and driving sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at a health walk in Lagos during the 2025 Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Week, NBCC President Mr. Ray Atelly highlighted the crucial role of a healthy workforce in fostering a thriving economy.
Atelly emphasized that as industries evolve, maintaining high health and safety standards is more critical than ever.

Mr. Gbite Falade, Managing Director of Aradel Holdings Plc, stressed the importance of integrating fitness into daily routines for better long-term health.
“A 30-minute walk every day can significantly reduce the risk of illnesses and enhance overall well-being. Don’t wait for health challenges to force you to start—make fitness a lifestyle,” he advised.
Similarly, Mrs. Joke Bakare, Managing Director of Medplus, underscored the necessity of regular medical checkups and physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Ebere Njoku, Director-General of NBCC, advocated for a holistic approach to work-life balance, encouraging businesses to adopt wellness programs tailored to individual health needs.
She explained that workplace fitness initiatives help reduce stress, enhance team bonding, and boost overall productivity.
