Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves after activating the Brazilian striker’s £62.5 million release clause.
Cunha, 26, signed a five-year deal with an option for an additional year. “It’s a dream come true,” he said. “United was my favourite team growing up in Brazil. I can’t wait to get started.”
The former Wolves forward scored 17 goals last season and was named Players’ Player of the Year. He also assisted Brazil’s winning goal against Paraguay in World Cup qualifiers this week.
United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, called the signing “a key priority” as the club rebuilds after a tough season. Cunha brings both finishing ability and creative flair to a struggling United attack.
With more transfers expected, United are also reportedly eyeing Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
