Liverpool Club are reportedly preparing to open negotiations for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 26-year-old forward, currently contracted to Napoli, enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray last season, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool Club are keen on bringing Osimhen to Anfield as part of their summer overhaul. The Reds are considering the striker as a possible replacement for Darwin Núñez. Who has drawn interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and across Europe.
While Núñez struggled to impress last season netting just seven times in all competitions Osimhen’s form makes him a compelling alternative.
Napoli, who reportedly no longer see Osimhen in their long-term plans, are open to selling the striker this summer. With a release clause of around £63 million, the deal is seen as financially feasible for Liverpool, especially when compared to other top strikers on the market.
Notably, Osimhen is said to be open to a move to Merseyside, potentially easing negotiations.
However, Liverpool may face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea. Both of whom have shown interest in the Nigerian international. To stay ahead, the Reds are also monitoring other attacking talents, including Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Hugo Ekitike.
Liverpool have already made waves in the transfer market. Signing Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million. They’ve also tabled a club-record £105 million bid for midfielder Florian Wirtz. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold has departed for Real Madrid in a £10 million deal.
With Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess and physical presence. Liverpool see him as an ideal candidate to lead their frontline next season.
