Isaac Fayose, younger brother of ex-Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, has pledged support to Peter Obi and the emerging ADC-led opposition coalition ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
In a Facebook post, Fayose declared, “Anywhere Peter Obi goes, I follow him… Bye-bye Labour Party, I am now ADC.”
His defection adds to the momentum behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently adopted as a unified platform by top opposition figures including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi.
On July 2, the coalition formally announced ADC as its new vehicle, dissolving its previous structure to accommodate heavyweight entrants from the APC, PDP, and Labour Party, each bringing regional influence and electoral clout.
A coalition source said the ADC was chosen for its national reach and minimal internal conflicts:
“This is more than a merger, it’s a realignment against misgovernance.”
The ADC, founded in 2005, had long struggled against Nigeria’s two-party dominance. But with support from major political players and endorsements like Fayose’s, the party is now positioning itself as a serious challenger to President Tinubu’s APC in 2027.
