In a shocking verdict, the High Court in Lafia has sentenced gospel singer Oluwatimileyin “Timileyin” Ajayi to death by hanging for the brutal murder and dismemberment of 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu.
Presiding judge Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Northern Nigeria Penal Code.
The crime occurred on January 12, 2025, at Ajayi’s residence in Papalana, New Karshi, where he was accused of killing Adaidu before attempting to dispose of her severed body, a horrifying act that shocked the nation.
Salome, who was serving at Nicon Insurance, Abuja, was laid to rest two days later on January 14, with disturbing images from her burial sparking national outrage and calls for justice.
