Annabelle Fasuba, daughter of former Nigerian sprint champion Olusoji Fasuba. Has made headlines in the UK athletics scene after breaking a long-standing 100m record at the City of Plymouth’s Spring Warm-up Meeting.
At just 13 years old, Annabelle clocked an incredible time of 11.91 seconds, smashing a 48-year-old record previously set by Jill Davies in 1976.
The race, held at Brickfields in Devonport, Plymouth, marked her first outdoor appearance in the 2025 season and what a debut it was. Her performance not only broke the City of Plymouth U-15 girls’ record. But also pushed her into the top 10 fastest U-15 girls in the UK for 2025. Impressively, it placed her 14th on the UK U-15 girls’ all-time list. Ahead of current British stars like Dina Asher-Smith and Amy Hunt.
According to Plymouth Sports Gazette, only 20 British female athletes under 15 have ever run the 100m in under 12 seconds—an elite group Annabelle has now joined.
The rising star didn’t stop there. She also competed in the 300m and delivered another outstanding result, clocking 40.88 seconds. Breaking yet another City of Plymouth club record.
Annabelle’s father, Olusoji Fasuba—Africa’s former 100m record holder and Athens 2004 Olympic bronze medalist—couldn’t hide his pride. Taking to Facebook, he wrote:
“What a day for 13-year-old Annabelle Fasuba. She stormed to a blistering 11.91s in the 100m, breaking not one but two records in one race!. To top off a phenomenal day, she helped her team set a new club record in the 4x300m relay. What a talent. What a future.”
This isn’t Annabelle’s first time turning heads. In May 2024, she made waves by setting two UK national records in the U-15 girls’ 100m and 200m both in the same week.
Earlier this year, she also claimed the English indoor 60m U-15 title. Reinforcing her status as one of the UK’s most promising young sprinters. With her impressive record-breaking performances and athletic pedigree. Annabelle Fasuba is undoubtedly a rising star to watch in the world of track and field.
