The management of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State has raised an urgent alert to the public, warning against a fraudulent website falsely claiming to handle admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In an official statement released on Tuesday by the institution’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, the university emphasized that the admission process has not commenced, and the public should disregard any unofficial communication channels.
According to Yahaya-Bello, a cloned version of the university’s website and a fake email address are currently being used by scammers to deceive prospective admission seekers into paying money under false pretenses.
“The only thing we have announced so far is our cut-off mark, which was published last week,” he clarified. “We are yet to release any information about our Post-UTME screening date.”
The university stressed that all official updates regarding admissions will only be communicated through its verified website and official social media handles. Any other source should be treated as suspicious and potentially fraudulent.
Furthermore, the management cautioned applicants not to fall for fake contact numbers displayed on fraudulent websites, emphasizing that Federal University Dutse does not charge money for admission.
“Admission into our institution is strictly merit-based and follows the guidelines set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB),” Yahaya-Bello stated.
He advised parents, guardians, and candidates to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities to avoid falling victim to online admission scams.
