Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has unveiled three groundbreaking programmes. These programmes are aimed at driving digital transformation, boosting digital literacy, and also strengthening cybersecurity in the state. These initiatives are designed to empower citizens with future-ready skills and position Bauchi as a hub for technological innovation in Africa.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony on Tuesday in Bauchi. Governor Mohammad announced the Digital Literacy and Skills Framework (DL4ALL Bauchi Initiative), the Cyber Nations Programme, and a Data Protection Policy in partnership with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Governor Mohammed explained that these projects are central to his administration’s development blueprint. My Bauchi Project 2.0, which focuses on digital transformation, youth empowerment, and economic diversification. He emphasised that this digital drive is not just about technology but all about creating sustainable jobs to combat poverty.
The DL4ALL Bauchi Initiative, was developed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). This should train over 100,000 citizens in basic digital literacy by 2027. It will also provide 2,000 youths with advanced training in high-demand areas such as software development, cloud computing, and data analytics.
Furthermore, digital education will be embedded into school curricula and workforce policies to ensure no community is left behind.
Calling it an “empowerment revolution,” the governor said the goal is to build a digitally fluent society capable of competing globally.
To harness opportunities in the booming cybersecurity sector. Mohammed also launched the Cyber Nations Programme, in partnership with Protexxa Inc. of Canada. This initiative will train 500 youths in world-class cybersecurity skills. Also offering international placements with stipends paid in foreign currencies.
Protexxa’s country representative, Abi-Hafsat Abubakar, described the programme as a gateway to over 3.5 million global cybersecurity jobs. Thereby reinforcing Bauchi’s ambition to become a leading African hub for digital transformation and expertise.
