In a major international operation this week, authorities disrupted some of the world’s most dangerous malware networks, leading to 20 arrest warrants and the takedown of over 300 servers.
According to Europol and Eurojust, the operation, part of the ongoing Operation Endgame, neutralized 650 malicious domains and seized €3.5 million ($3.9 million) in cryptocurrency.
The targeted malware, known as initial access malware, is often used to secretly breach computer systems before installing more harmful threats like ransomware.
The coordinated crackdown involved law enforcement from Canada, the US, the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, and the Netherlands. It marks a significant step in the fight against global cybercrime.
