In a rare and stinging rebuke from within the All Progressives Congress (APC), party elder Dr. Sunny Moniedafe has criticized President Bola Tinubu, warning that poor leadership and internal party divisions are pushing the country towards crisis.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily (July 29, 2025), Moniedafe said:
“President Tinubu is not doing well… we are heading for the rocks.”
Fuel Subsidy Removal & Public Suffering
Moniedafe blamed Nigeria’s worsening economy on the abrupt removal of fuel subsidies, which he said triggered inflation and widespread hardship.
“There is fire on the mountain,” he warned, pointing to unrest in Rivers State and condemning interference in elected offices.
Party Disunity & Leadership Isolation
He called out persistent internal rifts between APC’s legacy blocs,ANPP, CPC, and ACN saying the party remains trapped in self-interest.
“We should have outgrown those things by now.”
Moniedafe also accused Tinubu of isolating himself from party elders to avoid criticism:
“He didn’t call us because he knows we won’t support some of his actions.”
Second-Term Talk Too Early
The chieftain took issue with Tinubu’s alleged early push for re-election, calling it insensitive in a time of crisis.
“I’ve never seen someone start campaigning for a second term from day one.”
Final Warning & Possible Exit
Moniedafe urged the APC to form a council of elders for internal checks and accountability. Displeased with current leadership, he hinted at possibly leaving the party:
“I’m tired of keeping quiet… don’t be shocked hearing from me.”
