The Chediya community in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State came under attack on Monday as armed bandits stormed the village in broad daylight. Several residents were reportedly killed, many abducted, and dozens of homes set ablaze.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants fired sporadically, forcing villagers to flee. Properties were looted, livestock stolen, and entire households destroyed in the latest wave of violence rocking Nigeria’s north-west.
This attack follows closely after a similar raid in the Kucheri community, where at least 10 people, including women and children, were killed. Just last week, over 25 villagers were reportedly massacred in Maradun Local Government Area during another brutal onslaught.
Despite growing public outrage, authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the Chediya incident. Security analysts and residents alike are demanding urgent action, including increased military presence and improved intelligence operations, to curb the escalating bloodshed in Zamfara.
As the security crisis worsens, communities across the region continue to live in fear, calling on the Federal Government for immediate and sustained intervention.
