Alfa Designs Nigeria, a leading oil and gas company, is gearing up to introduce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at converting diesel-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This move aligns with the company’s commitment to fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Mubarak Abdul, a Research Engineer at Alfa Designs, revealed this development in Abuja. According to Abdul, the company is dedicated to reducing air pollution and minimizing the negative effects of diesel emissions.
When diesel generators or trucks are in operation, they emit thick smoke, which contributes significantly to air pollution. We sought ways to mitigate this issue and developed a dual fuel engine conversion kit,” Abdul stated.
Alfa Designs has developed an innovative dual fuel conversion kit that enables diesel engines to function using a combination of diesel and gas. This technology substantially reduces carbon emissions while improving fuel efficiency.
Abdul explained the collaboration with an international firm to introduce this dual fuel kit in Nigeria. This system allows vehicles to rely more on gas—either Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or CNG—thereby decreasing diesel consumption”.
With this conversion, CNG will substitute a significant portion of diesel usage, leading to a drastic reduction in soot emissions and enhanced air quality. Abdul emphasized that this initiative aligns with global climate agreements. Including the Paris Agreement, to help reduce carbon footprints by 2030.
The dual fuel conversion kit provides dual advantages: Lower fuel costs and Reduced emissions.
By decreasing diesel dependency, vehicle owners can enjoy significant cost savings while contributing to a healthier environment.
In addition to vehicle conversions, Alfa Designs is also pioneering the use of Computed Tomography (CT) machines for industrial inspections.
Traditionally, CT machines have been used in the medical sector, but they now offer advanced industrial applications, enabling highly detailed inspections that reveal hidden structural aspects,” Abdul noted.
This cutting-edge technology will aid oil and gas firms in conducting rock physics analysis and well characterization. Streamlining the process of identifying and extracting petroleum resources efficiently.
Abdul urged Nigerians to embrace innovative solutions to combat greenhouse gas emissions, warning that excessive emissions contribute to climate-related challenges such as flooding and global warming.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting government initiatives focused on environmental sustainability.
Alfa Designs Nigeria’s initiative to transition diesel vehicles to CNG, coupled with the introduction of CT technology for industrial applications. Signifies a major leap towards a greener and more technologically advanced energy sector. By adopting these solutions, Nigeria is progressing toward achieving emission reduction goals while promoting cost-effective and sustainable energy alternatives.
