The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed recent claims by presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala that insecurity has reduced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling the statement misleading and detached from reality.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi criticized Bwala’s comments and urged President Tinubu to leave the comfort of Aso Villa to experience firsthand what Nigerians face daily.
“President Tinubu needs to step out and speak directly to Nigerians, rather than rely on filtered reports from state governors or aides who sugarcoat the truth,” Abdullahi stated.
Bwala had earlier argued that insecurity had “degraded,” citing improvements in crisis-prone regions like Benue, Plateau, and the South-East. He described the remaining security threats as “criminal tendencies” not unique to Nigeria.
However, the ADC disagreed, insisting that many parts of the country remain under siege, with rising cases of kidnappings, killings, and attacks by armed groups.
“If this is the narrative the President hears regularly, then he is living in a bubble,” Abdullahi concluded.
