The African Democratic Congress (ADC) claims that the Tinubu-led administration is employing intimidation tactics to deter serving governors from joining the party. Despite lacking current governors, the ADC insists it remains strong and ready to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after a political meeting in Abuja on Saturday, July 26, 2025, ADC Acting Spokesman Malam Bolaji Abdullahi said many governors fear political backlash if they leave the APC. However, he noted that the lack of governors doesn’t reduce the ADC’s growing popularity.
“We’re not targeting any governor,” Abdullahi said. “They are scared because of the intimidation they face. Some even pretend to support the APC just to avoid trouble. But this is a conspiracy against Nigerians.”
Nigerians Want Change, ADC Claims
According to Abdullahi, Nigerians are fed up with the hardship under the current administration. He said hunger, high school fees, and worthless salaries have pushed people to seek real change. The ADC, he stressed, represents that alternative.
“Every Nigerian who can’t afford basic needs knows this can’t continue,” he added. “They know we need a better option—and that option is ADC.”
ADC Dismisses Collapse Rumours
The party also responded to predictions that it would collapse within six months. Abdullahi pointed out that critics made similar claims when the ADC coalition launched, yet the party continues to grow stronger.
“They said we were dead on arrival. Now they say we’ll last only six months. Nigerians can see we’re still here. We’re gaining support every day,” he said.
The ADC says it receives daily messages from citizens who see the party as their only hope. It believes its grassroots appeal and bold stance make it a serious contender in 2027.
