In a major milestone for Nigeria’s energy sector, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has inaugurated the country’s first Liquefied to Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) hub in Yola, Adamawa State. This facility, developed by Greenville LNG, marks a significant step in advancing the federal government’s Decade of Gasinitiative.
Ekpo emphasized the strategic importance of the North-East location, noting its potential to unlock economic growth and bridge regional energy gaps. “This project is a symbol of inclusive development and national energy security,” he stated.
The LCNG hub enables the use of cleaner and more affordable energy sources like LNG and CNG, offering an alternative to petrol and diesel for vehicles and industries. Ekpo hailed the model as a benchmark for sustainability, job creation, and peace-building.
President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s vast gas reserves for economic transformation was also highlighted. Ekpo called on more private investors to participate in expanding LCNG infrastructure nationwide.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, praised the federal initiative, citing its alignment with the state’s goals for cleaner energy and climate resilience.
Greenville Chairman, Eddy Broeke, revealed plans to invest over $1 billion in similar projects across Nigeria, urging government support for successful implementation.
