Sodiq ‘Happy Boy’ Adeleke delivered a powerful statement at GOtv Boxing Night 33, securing a commanding win over Muideen Abiodun. The super-bantamweight contest, held at the indoor hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday, saw Adeleke unleash a relentless attack, forcing a stoppage just 1 minute and 10 seconds into the third round.
Starting strong from the opening bell, Adeleke overwhelmed Abiodun with a barrage of punches, sealing a technical knockout and capturing the audience’s admiration.
In the night’s second bout, Tobiloba ‘Silent Assassin’ Ijomoni earned his first professional victory by stopping Abolade Akintunde. Although he weighed slightly less at 62.2kg compared to Akintunde’s 62.4kg, Ijomoni dominated the fight and scored a fourth-round TKO.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Abimbola edged past William ‘Kaki’ Amosu in a tightly contested light-welterweight match. Abimbola remained unbeaten after winning via split decision, with judges scoring 77–76, 76–76, and 77–75 in his favor.
In another lightweight encounter, Sikiru ‘Omo Iya Eleja’ Shogbesan used his experience to outpoint Segun ‘Odi’ Gbobaniyi by unanimous decision. Although Gbobaniyi appeared stunned by the outcome, Shogbesan’s performance left little room for doubt.
Tosin ‘Sojar Boy’ Osaigbovo also extended his unbeaten record, forcing Adeogun Awwal — a late replacement for Ghana’s Emmanuel Otoo — to retire after the sixth round.
In a highly competitive super-featherweight contest, Lateef Azeez narrowly defeated Sodiq ‘Golden Boy’ Oyakojo via split decision, improving his professional record to nine wins, one loss, and one draw.
Capping the night, Raheem ‘Badoo’ Animashaun thrilled fans by knocking out Gboja Coffi in the third round of the main event.
Following his victory, Adeleke received the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy and a N1 million cash prize, expressing gratitude for his hard work and determination leading up to the fight.
