The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has called on the NCS Women’s Volleyball Team to raise their game following a challenging defeat in the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship currently underway in Abuja, Nigeria.
Speaking after the team’s 0–3 loss to Club Féminin de Carthage (CFC) of Tunisia in Pool A, Adeniyi encouraged the players to remain focused, stating that the tournament is far from over.
Nigeria Customs Team Struggles to Hold Momentum
The Nigeria Customs volleyball team showed promise at the beginning of each set but failed to maintain momentum, resulting in straight-set losses:
- First set: 18–25
- Second set: 19–25
- Third set: 13–25
Despite the defeat, the Comptroller General remains optimistic.
“Both teams have one win each, and the outcome between Rwanda and Cameroon is still unknown,” Adeniyi said, emphasizing that there is still everything to play for.
Strong Belief in a Comeback
Adeniyi expressed confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back, noting that the coaching crew is already evaluating mistakes—especially those that occurred in the second set.
“The coaches will return to the drawing board and prepare for our next match. We’ll work on correcting our mistakes. We are confident about a stronger showing in the next game,” he added.
The NCS team remains determined to fight for a better position in the tournament and continue representing Nigeria with pride on home soil.
