Huawei Nigeria Board Director, Jim Zhang, has reaffirmed the company’s dedication to accelerating green energy adoption in Nigeria through innovative solar solutions and strategic collaborations. Speaking at a two-day “Green Energy and Solar Power Training” in Abuja jointly organized by Huawei, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, and the Ministry of Power Zhang emphasized Huawei’s role in driving Nigeria toward a sustainable, energy-efficient future.
With 26 years of presence in Nigeria, Huawei has been instrumental in advancing the nation’s digital and energy transformation. The company has partnered with MTN and Airtel to deploy 4G and 5G networks and has supplied nearly 100 megawatts of power through its Smart PV and Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Huawei has also invested in local training and infrastructure, operating two headquarters, a training center, an innovation hub, and an operations center in Lagos.
The training initiative aims to equip government officials and professionals with knowledge of solar energy applications, maintenance, and challenges. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, praised the initiative for its economic and environmental benefits, urging participants to leverage the opportunity for long-term impact.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s energy transition. He stressed that collaborations between the government, industry leaders, and technology firms like Huawei are essential to developing clean, sustainable, and inclusive energy solutions.
As Huawei deepens its commitment to Nigeria’s digital and green energy sectors, it remains focused on providing cutting-edge technology, flexible energy solutions, and training programs to support the country’s shift toward renewable energy and a digital economy.
